"Miracle" Babies

Meet Mr Black our Rex rabbit. For the last 3 years he has been free to roam the homestead. He doesn't live in a cage and will come right up to me at feeding time to eat out of my hand. He hangs around with Rusty and Whiskers the cat living the free life while having a affair with Mrs.Gray another Rex that gets to run free.

Meet Prissy our Pedigree New Zeland rabbit.

She lives in a nice rabbit condo. ALONE.

A couple times a year we put her with Rocky another pedigree New Zeland rabbit to make babies. These are huge rabbits.
Last month I found a hole in the wire on the bottom of Prissy's house.

Thought it was strange as its very strong wire but fixed the hole and never thought anymore about. Prissy's house is 4 and a half feet off the ground.
2 days ago I found this:

Prissy had 4 babies. They look like Mr Black and nothing like Prissy the pedigree New Zeland. Seems Mr Black and Prissy courted thru the bottom of the condo and decided to chew the wire until Mr Black could fit thru a hole. He had to climb up the legs of the condo to reach it and hang on with his front feet while chewing.

Now he is like a love sick puppy laying below the condo looking up at his new love and his love babies. He can't reach her any longer as the wire is doubled. Mrs. Gray doesn't seem to happy and all I can say is love can make you do strange things.

What a cute story, Peggy... That Mr. Black was a determined one... BUT--he and Miss Prissy must have found LOVE.... So--all of the babies look like Daddy, huh????? How funny....

Hugs,
Betsy

Haven't we all done such things!! I think that sometimes lust had more to do with it than love but...

You write the coolest stories! I always enjoy how you put everyday living into fun ways so we can 'see'.

Life will go on no matter how we try to control the ending.
